We’ve been renovating our home for around 11 months now, and we’ve just got to what I personally think is the exciting part… Decorating! Picking all the colour schemes and the decorative pieces is my forte. I’ve been waiting a whole year to actually make this place look and feel lovely, and now I finally get the chance. So when I got the exciting email from Desenio asking if we’d like some help creating some finishing touches in our home I literally jumped for joy and was straight on to their beautiful website picking out prints.
The two places I knew that needed a little zhuzh were the living room and bathroom. Such large blank walls above both the big sofa and the bathtub. It was just a little empty feeling. Until Desenio came on the scene I hadn’t managed to find something to fill that void. But with our new beautifully framed prints I smile every time I enter the room.
I spent 2 evenings going through their site, adding things to my basket, removing things, looking through their massive collection of artwork, photographs and quotes to try to work out what would look best in our spaces. I had an idea in my head of the look I wanted to go for and with Desenio, I managed to make that idea a reality. Whatever style you’re after, I’m almost certain they’ll have it.
I’m so in love with my two pairings of prints. I really wanted something that helped the blank walls pop but also showed our personality though.
Seascape Poster – I knew for the living room I wanted something relaxing and something with a lot of ‘wow’. I hate the beach so anything that included sand was a big no-no. But this perfect image of the wavy sea with those deep blues and greens reminds me to just take a deep breath and realign my thoughts. I knew the bold colours would go perfect closer to our dark feature wall helping the corner pop. I decided white wood frames would be best suited here, no distractions from the imagery itself.
Each Day I Love You No2 Poster – A quote that I and Bradley tend to say a lot to each other. It’s something that just feels perfect to be in our living room. Where the three of us spend the majority of our time, as a family, completely in love. I love the way that the lettering is all butted up to one side. It helps with my need for symmetric lines, and the blank space in the poster literally uses the rule of thirds to drag you in.
Get Naked Poster – A little quote to show our cheeky side. This bathroom is our only one, meaning guests always use it. I love to have something to giggle at in the bathroom and I think this just does it.
Green Splash Poster – The moment I saw this poster I knew I would have it. My favourite colour of all time. The exact same colour we chose for our shower cubical tiles, paired with gold frames since we used gold glitter grout with the green tiles. Placing this poster opposite those gorgeous tiles ties the room together perfectly.
In the past when buying metal frames I’ve always found them cheap and terrible looking, usually very bendy and covered in scratches. I couldn’t believe how beautiful these ones were. The quality of all the frames I chose were just incredible and just made me so happy. People tend to forget that a frame can make or break the overall feel of pieces like this.
Just look. You couldn’t find a perfect colour match if you tried. The green, the gold, I just love it all so much. I still feel like I need another large print on that blank wall just to draw it all in, perhaps something in black and white would be charming there. In a perfect world, I’d love a boatload of candles and a wooden bath rack but realistically, with a toddler who is just into EVERYTHING it just wouldn’t work. So I’ll stick to stuff out of his reach for now…
