As you all know we have decided not to find out the sex of this baby! Which means at first the unisex nursery was very bland and lacked any character or charm. We could wait until the arrival of the baby to decorate properly but we all know how crazy time gets when newborns arrive! Especially when you have a toddler too!
If you follow me over on Instagram then you’ll probably know that all the bedrooms are painted a shade of green – I just can’t get enough of that colour. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it, green is beyond calming in a bedroom.
So when the lovely people at Photowall got in touch and wanted to help out in creating a beautiful unisex space for our little one I certainly jumped at the chance. Photowall sells a range of products from wallpaper to wall murals, from prints and posters. You can even upload your own photos or use one of the thousands of images and pieces of artwork they’ve got!
It certainly took me a good couple days to make my mind up on what I wanted. I knew that I wanted to make some sort of feature wall, but in all honesty, I didn’t have the foggiest of a theme I wanted to go for.
Then, when I laid my eyes on the white and green beauty of the Eucalyptus wallpaper I just knew that’s what we needed in this baby’s nursery. It’s elegant, simple yet interesting and just perfect for a little girl or boy. The fact it was green ticked another huge box for me because it kept in tune with the upstairs rooms in the house. The non-feature walls were also already just painted plain white meaning it would work perfectly with the paper and boy it sure did.
What’s brilliant about Photowall’s wallpapers is that you just type in your wall size that you’re wanting to fill and BAM – it’s all sorted for you. The roll of paper comes with cutting lines on that fit perfectly for the height of your walls (obviously with some wiggle room), and there is more than enough to make sure you’ve got the width covered too.
Inside the package, you get the right amount of wallpaper paste with instructions of how to make it up. Also a very thorough step by step guide to how to prepare the wall and put up the paper if you’re doing it yourself. It was actually a lot easier than we first imagined as we were firstly quite afraid to mess it all up!
Like all the rooms in our house, they have all been re-boarded and plastered over in the last year during our renovation so we knew we were working with lovely smooth walls which definitely made the process much easier. The wall was already a pale shade of green so we made sure to paint over it first with white just to make sure nothing would show through the paper. But personally, I don’t think it would have done! The paper felt so thick and of such high quality – so luxurious!
Photowall doesn’t just create fabulous products, they help the planet out too – they strive to minimise their environmental impact! Every year they plant around 5000 trees with Vi Agroforestry in East Africa around Lake Victoria. It’s wonderful to know you’re buying from a business that puts energy and resources back into the planet. We’ve been trying our hardest to be more eco-friendly in our home, and this has definitely put an extra smile on my face knowing we’re working alongside a brand that cares.
When I first walked into the room once the paper was up I actually gasped. I could not believe how beautiful it looked. It just felt like the paper was made for this baby. It’s actually over took our master bedroom for being my favourite room in the house. You wouldn’t believe the transformation not only this room but this whole house has had in the last 2 years. And to complete the last room with this breathtaking paper couldn’t be more perfect.

I’m now eyeing up my next purchase as I feel the need of a lovely green framed print for the opposite wall would really tie this whole space up together.
