Fathers Day Gift Guide

Fathers day is fast approaching, and for many it will be a first fathers day. New mums and dads have an extra responsibility on top of looking after their baby now, buying fathers/mothers day gifts. Why did life have to get so complicated?! Men are already hard enough to buy for as it is. And because it’s their first fathers day you need to make it extra special. So what do you do?! What do you buy them?! I’ve gathered up a list of products you could buy or make for all the different kinds of dads out there.

The Personal Dad

Honestly I won this photobook free from one of those Mcdonalds Monopoly stickers… But boy did it come at a right time! Absolutely perfect to use for a fathers day gift. Snapfish have pre-made layouts to make it easier, and you can just add your own photographs and text to make it right for you. I’ve filled it completely with photographs of Theodore and Bradley together. I don’t believe they actually cost much if you were to purchase one anyway, about £15 it looked like. But this book will be treasured forever now, along with all our printed photographs. There’s something different about holding images in your hands than swiping through them on your phone. Currently my iCloud storage keeps telling me its full and won’t upload images anymore… there is 6500 on there though. I don’t want to delete most of them, what do I do to keep them all digitally?! Anyone?!

The First Father’s Day Dad

I absolutely adore this personalised crystal keepsake. Honestly I was so shocked by the quality of this item, and it would look really beautiful on a desk along side photographs. The perfect little keepsake to remember back to the tiny baby days. The sweet little bear design gets my heart melting especially since I have always called him Bradley Bear (don’t tell him I told you that). Borngifted have a tonne of personalised first fathers day gifts if that’s what you’re needing to purchase this year.

The Business Man Dad

I don’t know about anyone else but when I was little I just remember buying my dad ties for fathers day. Although he wasn’t really a business man, so when he wore these ties I don’t know. I never really understood what he did when I was little. A man with a good tie selection is ready for any occasion I think. This will only be Bradley’s second tie (third after his school tie he still has?). So we haven’t gone into daring territories yet with bold colours. A great thing about ties, is that they are timeless, he could still be wearing this when he’s 70. Imagine getting 70 years out of any other piece of clothing?

The Stylish Dad

For the dad’s that love a brand name. Branded underwear. Something to make them feel a little luxurious with spending only a fraction of the price. Bradley practically only wears branded clothes. Primark is a big no-no for him (apparently they are itchy…? Whereas all my wardrobe is Primark). Topman is the ‘cheapest’ he’ll start at, which for me usually means empty pockets when buying him gifts. So buying something branded costs a lot, but not usually if you stick to something small like underwear. They still get the satisfaction of having some new branded goodies, but your pockets don’t feel to hard hit by it all!

The Collectables Dad

Some guys just like to collect stuff. As an adult I just don’t get the satisfaction. I used to collect TY Beanies as a kid (anyone remember the original ones?!), but that’s about it. Hallmark have now brought out their very own collectables range called Itty Bittys. Which are miniature soft toy characters from your favourite movies and television shows. Including Star Wars, Marvel, Scooby-Doo, Flintstones and many more. I much prefer these to the Tsum Tsum make of mini soft collectables because the Itty Bittys seem to be characters from our era. So much more suitable for adults. Whereas I personally don’t know who half the characters are in the Tsum Tsum range because they are from the new Disney films.

The Groomed Dad

For a dad who likes to keep his appearance to a high standard, especially his beard. This new Bic Shave Club box subscription sends you out new blades whenever you so need. A years supply of razors to keep himself in top tip condition?! Absolutely perfect idea. This works out so great cost wise, instead of going out and purchasing new blades or a whole new razor every time they need to, they’ll have them conveniently send to their home. You can cancel any time, which is what ALL subscription services should be doing. Cause maybe one day he’ll decide he no longer wants to shave and enter the longest beard contest… perhaps.

Hopefully this post has filled you with ideas on what to buy your dad, or perhaps your childs dad. I’m hoping I’ve pulled off Bradley’s first fathers day and it’s one that he’ll remember. But he’s a man, and he’s a man who doesn’t take notice, a man who forgets. So maybe I didn’t need to put so much effort in…

I never have a clue what to buy my dad so this year we’re taking him out for lunch. He’s so hard to buy for, all these gifts are lovely but nothing my own dad would use or do anything with! Food is the way forward ?

I love the photo book that you created. Pretty sure I have some stickers somewhere that I might try and find and create one myself. R is the opposite of a typical man so it’s hard to find gifts for him!
